2012 sketchbooks, looking at perspective and figures still. Just drawing whenever anyone stayed still long enough or held a pose for more than half a minute...led to some very strange drawings in my books actually. People often referred to them as scribbles, which is fair enough.

My bro, Doing a sketchfest with my aniki and this came up

Mum and Monty sitting, My Mum and her dog having a rest on the couch

Monty asleep, Easier to draw him when he's snoozing

Lecture scene, On the back row of lecture room three

Nanna's chair, Visiting my Nanna, drawing her ultra comft chair
More sketches to keep track of what I was doing when. This year I was looking at figures, measuring and perspective...very very sketchy. I don't think anyone who looked at my sketchbooks then were very happy with the lack of confident lines and colour, except my teacher who just wanted me to do lots more of the same.

For comparison with later sketchbooks

This was part of fine art education, which in hindsight wasn't actually that useful apart from looking at various artists work and understanding just how far I had to go to get better.

"Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who possessed Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices. This praise, which would be unmeaning Flattery, if inscribed over human ashes, is but a just Tribute to the Memory of BOATSWAIN, a Dog"

John Cam Hobhouse

"The world there was the flat world of the ancients; to the east, a cornfield that stretched to daybreak; to the west, a corral that reached to the sunset; between, the conquests of peace, dearer-bought than those of war."

Willa Cather

"As the shade went up
And the ambulance came crashing through the dust
Of a new day, the moon and the sun and the stars,
And the iceberg slowly sank
In the volcano and the sea ran far away
Yellow over the hot sand, green as the green trees."

John Ashbery
